Hello!

My name is Aswad Robert Jones.  I am exicited and overwhelmed to be a recipient for the 2018 Black Achiever’s Award.  It is such an honor to be selected for such a prestigious award. Presently, I am a student at Erie County Community College where I am majoring in Physical Education.  My goal is to eventually attend Canisus College and finish my degree there and eventually obtain a degree for grades Kindergarten through twelfth grade in Physical Education.  I am an advent worker in the community. I teach at our after school program which has various of different activities for the youth to participate such as Art, Science ,  Math, Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts, and Gym I also teach various sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Golf, Soccer and other sports to disadvantage youth at the  “Willie Hutch Jones Educational & Sports Programs” that’s offered throughout the year.  I established that through sports, I can connect with the younger students.  I am able to find their interests and direct them towards the goals they want to achieve in life. “Where there is Interest, there is Opportunity.”  Even though, sports is my way to connect with a student, I implement the fact that one must have the fundamentals in life such as reading, writing, and arithmetic to cross the finish line.
