The Willie Hutch Jones Educational & Sports Program “Gear Up A Child Program” recently received a $5,000 dollar grant from the Walmart Rise Program, which was used to promote a back to school drive. After meeting with store #2586 managers Ms. Mornalisa Ferrette and Mr. Chris Knowlin over 200 book bags with school supplies were loaded for distribution at the back to school program that was being hosted by Ms Eva Doyle and the Metropolitan Buffalo Alliance of Black School Educators at the Frank E. Merriweather Jr. Library in Buffalo NY. After every child in attendance was given a book bag TEAMHUTCH and the Walmart store volunteers drove across town to the Unity Day Community event and delivered the remaining supplies to the unexpected families in the park. The event was a huge success and the Gear Up A Child would like to say” thank you to the Walmart volunteers and the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. for traffic control!”
