Dear TEAMHUTCH Family,

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families and to all who have suffered from horrific acts of racism and the strong arm of oppression.

Unfortunately, we are all too aware of the injustices that Black Americans suffer daily. Police brutality, discrimination, health disparities, and educational and financial inequities have been a longstanding crisis in our nation. Many of our staff, students and parents have their own story of experiences with racism and discrimination. This mindset and systemic abuse must be put to an end, but it will take a nation of unified voices to create this necessary change.

The Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Program was developed to bridge a gap by providing under-resourced students equal access to high quality programing and activities where cost would not be a factor. We strive daily to be a change-agent in our community by leveling the playing field and by speaking value and self-worth into the lives of students who may not always hear it.

The Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sport Program stands with the Black Lives Matter Movement and all the peaceful protesting being demonstrated throughout the country. We will stand in this fight together until there is a transformation of how Blacks are viewed and treated in our society and legislations are put in place to protect the ideals that America was built on. Moving forward, we will continue to provide a safe and nurturing environment for kids to learn, grow and realize their fullest potential.
