WHJSC Free Educational and Sports Program Receives Oishei Grant
Willie Hutch Jones Educational & Sports Program (WHJSC) is pleased to announce that it has received a generous grant for support from the John R. Oishei Foundation to aid in building organizational strength.
The WHJSC has been in existence for over 28 years providing free educational and sports programs in Buffalo and Lackawanna. Each summer the program offers nearly 15 sports clinics including, basketball, football, baseball, crew rowing, volleyball, tennis, soccer, swimming and more. During the school year the program offers an afterschool program, homework assistance, computer labs, tap dancing, chess club, steel drum instruction and the STEM math and science program. These programs encompass a full aspect of learning which translates to higher test scores, self-esteem, motivation and respect for self, others and community.
The WHJSC is the only program of its kind offering services of this caliber for free.
The John R. Oishei Foundation strives to be a catalyst for change to enhance economic vitality and the quality of life for the Buffalo Niagara Region. The Foundation was established in 1940 by John R. Oishei, founder of Trico Products Corporation.
Established in1984 Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Programs is a 501c3 organization committed to providing free instruction in fundamental skill development, after school academic refinement, delinquency prevention, finance education, foreign language instruction, character development, and lifetime social skills for resilient youth throughout Western New York.
