Our Mission is to improve the emotional, social, and physical health of under-served youth in our community.
We strive to build critical life skills while nurturing talent. Jones’ vision for a brighter future continues to impact lives through WHJESP, proving that true greatness comes from empowering others and strengthening communities through opportunity and mentorship.
After retiring from his professional basketball career, Willie Hutch Jones, along with his friends Leroi Johnson and the late Bernard Mitchell, recognized a growing need in their childhood community. They saw that many young people lacked the opportunities and resources necessary to reach their full potential.
Driven by a shared passion to make a difference, they founded the Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Program (WHJESP), committed to inspiring and empowering under-served youth through sports and educational opportunities.
For over 40 years, WHJESP has transformed lives by offering free access to sports, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects, and wellness initiatives. These programs empower youth to excel academically, athletically, and personally.
By breaking barriers and fostering opportunities, WHJESP continues to inspire brighter futures for the communities it serves.
We offer a variety of programs designed to inspire, engage, and empower children, teaching them skills for both on and off the field. Our core sports programs include basketball, soccer, tennis, and swimming.
Every child deserves the opportunity to be the best they can be. Your
support helps us in providing opportunities that make a lasting
impact. Whether through donations, volunteering, or by spreading the
word, you can help us change lives.
